House is Basically Set-Up

So, things here have been good still. Teaching has continued to go well, though in all my classes I've had to adjust my syllabus to go back and teach some basics to the students (difference between an atom and a molecule in 10th grade, balancing equations in 11th grade, and different types of chemical bonding in 12th grade - plus scientific notation in both my physics classes). The students are generally good, but they're past the point where they listen blindly to anything I say because I'm a novel item (new white teacher), so it's been getting a little tougher to keep the class attention focused on science, but then again I'm dealing with anywhere between 40-130 young adults (they're mostly older than me, so I can't exactly call them teenagers), so a little chaos is to be expected.

As for home life, my room has all the furniture it's going to get and I'm happy with the set up I have going. I still want to get a poster or some sort of wall hanging for this one empty wall, but nothing in the market has caught my eye yet (not as many poster vendors here as there were in Guinea....don't really understand why, but I'll probably just end up getting some fabric to put there since there's tons of that). Our kitchen is also basically set up now, we're still waiting on a table to eat at from our carpenter, but he's dragging on finishing it - I think we gave him enough business so that he now has a bit of a surplus of cash and doesn't feel the need to work as much as he used to. It's been nice having the pressure of "we're only here for 7 months, let's get our house set up quickly" to make us get this done - it took me closer to 6 months to finally get my house how I wanted it in Guinea, and I only finished that soon because I had the pressure of Tim's upcoming visit to motivate me to get it done.

Jesse and I are taking a trip down to Tappeta tomorrow to visit Jon and Kim, two of our friends from Guinea. They are about 2 hours (or so we're told) south of us, so it shouldn't be too terrible of a bush taxi ride - though it will be my first time buying a seat in a bush taxi since I left Boke for Bintimodia in late September 2009. It's funny how quickly time flies.

Anyway, my battery is running low, so I should post this before it's too late. I will take pictures of Tappeta and hopefully I will post them along with pictures of my house when I return to Saclepea.
